"THE MOMENT"

THEY CLASP HANDS NO MORE

THEY HAVE FADED

THEIR SHAPES AND WHAT ONCE STOOD MOVED ON

THROUGH TIME AND OTHER PLACES THAT HAVE NO NAMES

BUT THERE IS ONE PLACE THEY KNOW

WHERE HIM WHO WHO KEEPS THE MOMENTS DWELLS

AND TODAY, THE MOMENT HE MARKED

WAS THE MOMENT WHERE THAT ONE STOOD

ON THE BARREN LAND

TO COMMENCE HIS ART

THAT MOMENT IS FROZEN

THAT MOMENT IS FOUND

THAT MOMENT IS REMEMBERED

THAT MOMENT... WAS 10 YEARS AGO TODAY.

I wrote this just from looking at the photograph. I know River
didn't trust the camera, so maybe this isn't a fitting tribute, but
how can you escape from such a haunting and enduring image? I really
wanted to pay tribute when I saw the date. What does everyone think
of the image?

Definately worthy of being classed as a 'fitting tribute' Adam, i
especially loved the line 'Their shapes and what once stood moved
on' because it reminds me of footage of River during the filming of
Dark Blood when he was in the cave, and then he 'moved on'.

This poem very much reminds me of that era, his final days...

Thanks Adam.
I appreciate this tribute to River, and the recognition of mystery
surrounding his presence that continues to defy all sense of time
and space. -

WOW ADAM! That was truly a beautiful tribute to River! If you
attached the photo of River I can't see it, but I cheated and read
the Chat between you and Edward earlier, so I know which photo you
were looking at as you wrote this. I can't get over how talented a
poet you are and how well you are able to capture an image with
words. It was really quite moving to me as I read it.
