...and I just met one! Or rather, I just hadn't brought the matter
up when I met him last year. We got talking about films (Top Hat,
Night of the Hunter, a few early John Woo things), and then I started
harping on about River as per usual, and it turns out that my new
friend loves Running On Empty, Stand By Me and especially... Idaho!
Hurrah! I'm going to introduce him to the delights of Dogfight this
weekend. I'm afraid I can't chat this Sunday, Brad: lots of work to
do, but I've found some working computers a bit nearer my house than
before, which is good news, so I hope to speak to you all soon,

All my love and happy thoughts,
Rick xx

PS: I'd be interested to read which other movies people hold
dearly... that is, not starring River. Idaho's my #1, of course, but
if anyone's interested I'll wax boringly lyrical about a few others
too! xx

Hi Rick!

Well that's a good thing then! That you found some computers near
your house too!

Don't think I know anyone in REAL that I could really talk to about
River yet. I guess about him as an actor in and the movies I have
talked about him a little bit. His movies are from another time
period though and don't usually come up.

My list of movies I like keeps changing with new ones I see. But
some, like "Donnie Darko" have stayed on the list for awhile now.
Trainspotting, I really liked Enemy at the Gates. I've been
watching more older movies lately that friends have told me about:
American Beauty, Chocolat, Green Mile, a couple Joaq movies,
Inventing the Abbots and The Yards, Signs. A Rain movie
called "O". Got to watch most of "School of Rock the other night
when I met a few friends in Old City. Really surprised me. You
seen it? Two of my friends are starting a ban - I think if was as
cool for me to watch them watch the movie and talk about it as it
was to watch the movie myself!

Hey Rick-

It's nice to meet you! You sound a lot like me- by bringing up Rio in
conversations! Anways, I liked how you asked which moveis are some of
your fav's. Since you asked (hahahha!), I'm going to go all out!
Here's a short list of my favorites (those that Rio isn't in) that I
oculd watch over and over again:
-Igby Goes Down (my current favorite)
-Girl, Interrupted; Awakenings, One Flew oVer the Cuckoo's Nest, A
Beautiful Mind,The Hours, etc. (I am a PSY major, this explains my
fascination with such films!)
-Lord of the Rings Series
-Scarface, Carlito's Way, & Godfather Series
-Signs, To Die For, Return to Paradise, Inventing the Abbotts, Clay
Pigeons, Quills (all Joaq's films)
-Requiem for a Dream (all I can say is: Jennifer Connolly b/f she was
a big hit!), Blow (Johnny's great), The Gift (Keanu is spectacular)

*I am drawing a blank right now, but the list goes on forever. But,
of the above, I could definitely watch them over and over again for
the rest of my life.
Luvs-
angel
