| Hi RIVERFRIENDS!
From having been Barry's first editor I've now become the
unofficial publicist. That suits me just fine though...
Copied below is a letter to Barry from his second editor, the
one who has edited the book for actual publication. Barry has just
sent it to me, and I'm glad to keep everyone updated by sharing it
here.
WON'T BE LONG NOW, I HOPE!

FROM BARRY'S EDITOR:
"Ahhhh. I just finished editing your book, all 412+ pages of
it. I began
January 20th and finished this morning. I put it down from time to
time
because, in all honesty, I got emotionally tangled up in the story and
needed a break. Especially when River dies. That chapter really got
to me.
This may sound strange, but I must tell you, I feel that there is a
reason I
am editing this book. As I edited, I felt strangely drawn into the
story.
This rarely happens for me. I would awake in the middle of the night,
pondering something in the text.
I never found River Phoenix, when he was alive, of major interest. I
enjoyed
his roles, and actually did see many of his movies, but, he was not
one of
my favorite young actors.
Nevertheless, you have done justice to his story, Barry. You have
written a
fabulous book. It has been my true pleasure to help you in this task
that
River challenged to you in your dream -- write my story and tell the
truth.
I feel very fortunate to have been asked to work on this.

| I feel soo happy! Barry is such a wonderful guy to have decided to
write a book about River! and it's amazing what his editor felt! I
think all readers who aren't fans of River will feel the same way
too! So that's GREAT!

| Wow!!
Some else who has been touched by the life River led and what he has
shown us about life. I think it's so great to hear praise for
Barry's book and I can't wait to get my copy. Thank you, Barry for
writing it so that many more people can be touched in the way we
have been.
