I've recently been fascinated in the most important form of Japanese
poetry, Haiku. For those who don't know anything about it, it's
roughly just a seventeen syllable verse e.g

Harvest moon:
around the pond I wander
and the night is gone.

Poverty's child -
he starts to grind the rice,
and gazes at the moon.

No blossoms and no moon,
and he is drinking sake
all alone!

Won't you come and see
loneliness? Just one leaf
from the kiri tree.

Temple bells die out.
The fragrant blossoms remain.
A perfect evening!

-------------------------------------------------------------------

I'd love to see anyone try and make up their own poems using the
form of Haiku, I think it would be very interesting, if you're stuck
for inspiration, try thinking or writing about Rio!

Ok here goes

Rivers gentle flow
Soothes the angriest of souls
And peace follows free

5,7,5. Not brilliant but a Haiku none the less !!

This IS fun !! Here are 2 more..........

Sleepy dreaming song
Snuggled up in my duvet
Nighttime closes in

and

Autumn leaf that falls
Signals the end of summer
New season begins

Don't stop now, keep em coming!

The cause is strong;
End the war,
Between the mind and heart

AND

Open the mind's eye
Be aware that,
Phantoms fill the sky above
