Hey I've been trying to word this question in my head and I can't
really find a way that makes it sound less patronizing. I don't mean
it to sound patronizing, remember that!
I was just thinking wouldn't it have been really good for River's
family to have included in his morals about not hurting animals and
being vegan (both of which I really admire) to not take drugs?
I feel like they would have had a relaxed attitude towards drugs
seeing as they more than likely dabbled in their time.
I just think aswell as being a great human being to everyone and
thing it'd have been great if River had felt strongly about looking
after himself as well. I know there are many elements to why he
occassionally dabbled in drugs, but I just wonder why he wasn't so
apposed to them.
I hope you get what I mean, I don't wanna blame anyone, and I
totally relate to River in so many ways, and can see the
contradictions and feelings he must have felt.
I hope he's okay now, and swimming in the many river's in heaven.

I am sure it was the curiosity of it all. His parents never really
treated their kids like children, they referred to them as friends, and
let them make their own decisions. I guess it was Rivers decision to
take drugs, that is how he dealt with stress. Would have been better if
he just drank I think. HOWEVER, I am not condoning either!!!

Hello Steve,
I think you worded it just right. It would have been all together
in keeping with their health concerns if the Phoenix's were anti-
drug use too. There is also a history of alcohol abuse among the
phoenix men. I used some grass and I've done some hard drinking in
my day, so I can't pretend to be better than they. Life's hard and
the desire to escape can be very strong. It's also necessary for
the soul to MAKE mistakes in its long journey along the path of
consciousness-expansion; it's the way we learn. Sometimes the
personality-of-the-moment suffers horrendously, but the soul remains
unmoved by this suffering; all that concerns the immortal soul is
the expansion of consciousness--and the soul will pay ANY price to
achieve it.

I've thought about this a lot myself. And I think as far as River's
family goes in relation to the drug issue, they probably didn't think
much of it because they used to do them so much themselves. And
that's something that they were used to and comfortable with.

I wish very much that they would have looked after him more and tried
their hardest to pull him away from all that stuff though. And I read
a quote somewhere where River said he wasn't vegan because of a
health issue, but because of the moral aspect of it. So from that, it
doesn't sound like he was as concerned with his health, but maybe he
was, I don't know.

I wish damn badly though that he would've just looked into what he
was doing more, because it just destroys you, and I miss him dearly.

My one Love.

We don't know how anyone feels other than ourself. Drugs & Alcohol
are as bad as eachother when used, as what i see, as, wrongly. I
just want to keep in ming that, Not one of us understands what River
was dealing with. Much Love
