Did you say that you used a book prior to drawing River to get acquainted with the drawing styles and techniques? Do you know of any that I could pick up?

Yes, I purchased a book called "Drawing for Dummies" Funny name for a book, but it was really helpful in learning the techniques for shading and shows you the basics on drawing in general. There are other books that I got from my local library with titles like "Draw 50 people" 'Draw 50 horses" and titles like that. They show you step by step on drawing the outlines but they don't go in depth concerning shading and other techniques that the "Drawing for Dummies" book does. Hope this helps and good luck.
