To all who love Ed,

This from a friend to me:
Ed sends greetings from his hospital bed, and tells me how pleased he is with the news so far, --also, that he has been enjoying the food (the menu sounded good). He looked great, and in good spirits, as always.

Some of you know that he has had difficulty walking, and went in for tests (many, as it turned out, and not yet completed). The results to date have been very encouraging, but tomorrow he will have tests for CDIP -- chronic demyelinating inflammatory polyneuropathy -- , or Guillaim Barre. If the tests prove positive for CDIP, the doctors seem confidant that a 3 day treatment program followed by a few days of therapy and stabilization will be sufficient to enable him to walk without assistance.

He is at the Los Angeles County General Hospital, Ward 3800, room 21. (To visit, park in building 12-D , on Zonal just beyond the small emergency information building. Follow the blue line, which takes you to visitor security check in. Visiting hours are 11 A.M. to 8 P.M. )

The telephone number is 323-226-7272 for Ward 3800. Unfortunately, you will not be able to speak with Ed directly, but information about his condition will be available.

From BARRY:
I am glad to read he is basically alright. With this news I am sure he will still be able to receive and will place your memorials at the Viper Room on the 30th of October. So keep sending them to him.
BARRY
