I just finished watching it, and even though there were things i don't get about the main character, i thought it was a good movie. Perhaps the book is better. Anyway, i'm not here to criticize the movie, my question is, for those of you who have seen it, do you think River would have liked this movie? I think he would've been perfect for the role of Chris.

I love that movie. I think it's beautifully shot, beautiful acting and it's an interesting story. The main character is quite complex, but everytime I watch the movie I notice little things about him, that makes me understand him more.

River probably would have been perfect for the part, but I'm doubting he would have taken the part if offered, mainly because he would have had to eat fried squirrel etc. I think Emile Hirsch is excellent in it. You quickly realize just how devoted he must have been to this project.

Definitely one of my favorite films.

Yeah, the squirrel and especially the moose scenes were a litte hard to watch for me too. I always think to myself ?ok, it's not a real animal? lol...
Have you read the book Helene? I'd love to read it, cos i don't think i'll be watching the movie again soon.

I haven't read the book, but I want to. A friend of mine told me it makes for a very interesting read. So I think I'll check it out once I get a little more time on my hands.

i think riv would have liked the movie and i think he would have had a lot in common w/ the real chris. but b/c emile was so perfect in the role, i cannot imagine anyone else but emile playing chris.

i did love the movie and i think i'd like to read the book one day. kathy has read it and she recommends reading it.
