| Hi, i guess you could say that 've only jut started taking an interest in River Phoenix. I love the film Stand By Me, but i am wondering, what other films out there of his are good to watch? I'm thinking about getting a little River collection going on in terms of films, but unsure of which ones to buy.
Thanks.

| Well Stand By Me is a classic. No doubt! However, one of my personal favorites is My Own Private Idaho. I think that it is really one of Rivers best performances in movies, however I have yet to watch all his movies. Running On Empty I rather enjoyed as well, although the ending in both MOPI and Running On Empty are rather sad, so if you don't want to see him cry, I wouldn't recommend you watching any of them. River is also great in The Thing Called Love, but personally I don't consider that some of his best work. His performance is great as always, but the genre of the movie is a little to soft for me. I Love You To Death and Sneakers are both really funny as well, so I can recommend those as well, but MOPI is a sure bet in my opinion!
Take care,
Simone

| Hi! I'm Rose and i have watched almost all of his movies, except I Love You To Death and Dogfight. Really hard to find it in the store today, especially in my country.
I owe Stephen King for his great stories including The Body which has adapted into the movie Stand By Me as we know. From that movie i knew River Phoenix and Chris Chambers. King also said that "he was the best actor of his time"-- i know that from a documentary video about Stand By Me (The Summer of Stand By Me). Maybe you also have watched it.
But i prefer My Own Private Idaho because of it's story. The whole movie basically tells about searching for home and love. And that's what life all about. I learn many things everytime i watch it.
I wonder if he's still here. He would have won 2 Oscars or more, :P maybe. But that's not impossible!
Thank you, sorry about my bad English!

| Hi lozzykinz
Yea, Stand By Me is a great movie, a classic one, as SimoneK alreay wrote.
But I'd recomend you Running On Empty because of its story and deeply feelings, which especially River perfectly shows and the movie is also a definite classic in Rivers movie carrier.
My Own Private Idaho is also in my opinion the best work he ever did. The topic of the movie and all actors, of course the beautiful landscapes as well, are definitly worth a look or more ;-) The movie is fabulous even the end is really sad, but you will see, it's a great movie and River lived his part of Mike Waters deeply.
Even I love all River movies, especially Little Nikita and I Love You Do Death are also two movies where you see River in a different way. In I Love You To Death you experience River as a funny but at the same time serious and lovely "Pizza Boy" called Devo.
The Thing Called Love is also worth to watch, because it's the only movie in wich River has a singing part. You'll see, his songs go deep within' you, well, that's what I've experienced.
Silent Tongue is the only movie, where Rivers part could have "more action". He plays his part really good, but the move doesn't have that River-Like on it, which I get in all other River Movies. But you have to look at it as well to see him in a total different scene.
Have fun while watching the movie, you'll love them all :-)

| Dogfight is a beautiful film. Plain and simple.
I love all of his films, but this one is just pure and enjoyable. He is super handsome in it too!
