| Hey guys,
Okay so this is not really related to River, but it is about something I thought he would really have liked had he still been with us, so I wanted to share it with you.
Ian Somerhalder from The Vampire Diaries launched a website with his own foundation, which supports the environment and the animals here on earth.
Check it out at:
www.isfoundation.com
I think this is really great of Ian and I really think River would have liked it. Who knows, maybe they would have been friends if River had still been here?
All I know, is that I am considering donating, and if you don't want to do it for Ian, then do it for River
Take care and Merry Christmas!
Simone

| Thanks for posting this, Simone. I agree - I think River would have loved something like this. Then again, he would have probably even started something like this himself.

| I have to admit that when I first heard of what Ian Somerhalder was doing, I couldn't help but be reminded of River. I think River might have done something similar if he had lived to see this computerized day and age. I'm also glad that Ian featured NRDC on his site, as I think they are a great environmental organization.
I am a huge fan of The Vampire Diaries. Ian is absolutely gorgeous! I check out his Twitter account every now and then, as he posts some interesting environmental news items occasionally.

| I agree with both of you, that River might have done something like this himself.
I, as you mentioned Ellen, also thought of River when I heard what Ian was up to. I'm following him on twitter, so I always know of any updates he writes in there (I spend an insane amount of time on twitter!)
Anyway, I was really pleased to hear what Ian was up to with this foundation and I am going to donate at some point
I am a huge fan of The Vampire Diaries too. When I first started watching it, it made me think about River because of the role as the interviewer he was supposed to have had in Interview With The Vampire.

| The studio executives for "Interview With The Vampire" wanted Tom Cruise for the role of Lestat, but Anne Rice herself originally wanted River for the role. The director agreed with her choice, but they were over-ruled. River was then given the role of the interviewer instead. Since I *LOVE* Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles and I absolutely HATED Tom Cruise as Lestat, I can only imagine how awesome that film could have been with River in that role instead. Just take a look at this photo that was posted on Tumbler a while back and you will see what I mean. He would have made a fabulous vampire!
