A.A Songs

Wow I didn't know how conflicted or rather, complex the basis of my query was... I understand and appreciate the many perspectives of this situation involving Alekas Attic songs that were never really polished and mastered... being "out there" for people to hear and judge and whatnot. But this - in the end, is really a thing of politics ... I mean, music is music... and the fact that River so tragically left this earth prematurely means that he also left things unfinished, unresolved and unperfected perhaps. But to many people who have the intuition to know that he was an amazing medium of creation and compassion - through art and through music... I would imagine that even this raw, unperfected version of the music, of the lyrics...would be something that fans could have as a symbol of an omnipresent message... he was a medium of great artistic and humanitarian proportions.... his music and his films live on.... symbolically. I understand too that other people have been involved in this band.... so the consideration belongs to others and their wishes too.... but at the end of the day... I get that there is a certain precaution or maybe even fear around having material out there to be judged and to be perhaps under-appreciated for superficial reasons. Then again, maybe there is so much more to this than I know..... I don't want to break laws and go against wishes so that is that ... my own two cents.

A.A Songs

This thing about the famous link happened before on another site..and Josh Mckay..(Aleka's Attic bass) wrotte this...
"if you respect River Phoenix and Aleka?s Attic, please don't take down the songs!
From Aleka?s Attic
the album is unmixed, unmastered and unreleased Where did you get that link? River was an artist who was unbelievably attentive to detail. Making these rough mixes available to the public is in no way a tribute to his memory. Many of the actual finished mixes of Zero (neveroddoreven) were blocked from release by two of the musicians who would not sign artist releases. The four songs on Aleka?s Attic official page (myspace/alekasatticzero) are actual finishes from the album.
Please if you take the songs you have up that violate copyright. Not only is it against this site policy, but if you appreciate River, its the right thing to do.

Thank you very much" Josh M.

I think we have to think "before" make something wrong...is the best...
Peace...

A.A Songs

Yes, Traci...if it's Never Odd Or Even, it's illegal. So...if someone choses to download this you're going against the wishes of the band and the people involved with them. :( Out of respect for River and his family, you should not. Just my opinion.

This is the same thing I have with "Running On Empy". I don't get the feeling (that strongly) when I watch another River movie, but if I see "Running On Empy", I feel kind of his presence and it makes me more sad to watch the movie and remember him. Maybe that's one of many reasons why "Running On Empty" is my absolute favourite movie with River.

Re: Love and bless River Phoenix forever.

Dear River,

16 and a half year have gone since your last presence. You were never and won't be forgotten ever! You will remain in my heart as the beautiful, charming and sincere actor, musician and personality you were. Your spirit will always be a presence and I'll do everything to keep you in people minds!

It's a shame about the Never Odd or Even album...but it doesn't seem that's going to change anytime soon. :(

Re: Impossible to find...... A.A Songs

Have you tried limewire? Usually they're on there. Course you won't find the Never Odd Or Even album, but you can find some of their other songs.

Else try to contact rikki444 on youtube. I think she could help you. :)

Re: Impossible to find...... A.A Songs

In most cases, it's illegal to download them because members of the band wouldn't sign releases for them to be publicly distributed. Although, there have been sites out there where they're distributed illegally, but usually the sites get shut down quickly once they're discovered.

Sorry there isn't better news to tell you. :-S

Re: I miss rivie

Me too! :( He wasn't just a great actor, but a gifted musician and a beautiful, sensitive human being.

Msybe he was just too fragile for this world...

At least he was here for 23 years, though and there are many that still love and remember him. @};

Re: river's diary?

I read that article and it's all true what he wrote. You HAVE to start at your own, don't wait for others to do it. Start it and be an example for others to follow that step.

He was a special person and he cared about the environement, people, animals. There will be never a person, a character like him again who spoke that real.

I miss you Riv *__*

Re: River Phoenix Tour

Empire Stages of New York, Long Island City, Queens, New York City --> where Running On Empty was filmed.

I'm sure you guys already saw the "true hollywood story" about River? I'm asking because I did not see it, or I do not remember seeing it. Hopefully it's on air soon again...

I'd also say, Rivers natural haircolor was darkbrown, the best example would be "running on empty", where he wears the grey shirt and is waiting for his brother coming out of the house, a really beautiful brown, but I also like his highlights he has throughout several movies. The blonde bleached hair... yeah... I don't know. I would say it was not that bad but neither his best. It was something new, but the haircolor did not suit him.
